Ramsey is what you call a tidy footballer, a nice touch, comfortable with both feet, a strong runner who bombs forward at every opportunity and makes excellent runs. He is also very hard working, and has often in the past played out of position on the wings to help out his team, though it really does not suit him playing there.

There are some problems with him. Despite his excellent runs, unless he gets on the end of a goalscoring chance, he tends to try to do too much. Ramsey will look to take control of the ball, and wants to look for the right pass, when sometimes he just needs to move the ball on quickly. He often ends up costing good opportunities for his team.

Defensively he works hard, will get in the way, but struggles with tackling, it is not a strong point of his game, however he can press and pressure opponents into mistakes and stop them having an easy time of an attack. There is no doubting he will work for the team's benefit, but he has been known to be a bit sulky when asked to play out of position. One thing though, he never carries that sulk onto the pitch with him.

As a goalscoring midfielder Ramsey has a good shot on him but probably does not score as many as he should, especially when you consider the amount of good positions he gets into. The problem with him in the Arsenal team is that there are a number of players in the same place as him, tripping each other up a lot of the time. When it works for them though, it produces some lovely short passing triangles and opens up opposition defences.

With his contract running out at the end of the season, it is easy to see why he would want to hold on, there would be a lot of clubs out there he could become the central figure to their play, instead of being just one of many attacking midfielders as he is at Arsenal.
