Iwobi is an incredibly frustrating player to watch, and to write about. An incredibly talented lad but so laid back he is practically horizontal. That causes him to lack aggression and even effort on the pitch.

Added to that, for the first few years of his career every commentator seemed to have a contract clause that required them to mention that he was the nephew of Jay-Jay Okocha every time Iwobi's name was mentioned. Sadly he has never been able to live up to the legacy of his illustrious uncle.

What Iwobi does have is excellent technique, his first touch is usually good, on his day he can glide past opponents with ease and Iwobi's striking of the ball is clean, which really should result in more goals. Unfortunately his decision making is abysmal, when he even makes a decision that is.

There are so many times where he dithers on the ball and just gives it away without doing anything to effect the play. When you have the ability Iwobi has, that is criminal. The most frustrating thing of all is that he keeps getting chances in the team.

Managers always see the ability and think they can be the one to finally get him to play to his potential, but any good games tend to be one-offs. Probably his best run of games came for Everton while playing right wing-back, a role he seems utterly unsuited to, with his lack of workrate and inability to defend.

However, for a short period Carlo Ancelotti managed to get him playing well. Once again though, as is always the case for him, the effort drops and his performances fade away. And once again we are left wondering what could be and did you know he is Jay-Jay Okocha's nephew?
