Manchester United's January signing Bruno is what could well be described as a silky smooth footballer, who offers genuine creativity and goal threat. In many ways he is the perfect replacement for Paul Pogba. A step up from the little Pogba has offered United at least.



Bruno also offers something that is very sought after as he is a setpiece specialist, a very valuable asset in a tight league such as the Premier League. He can score free kicks around the edge of the box, but also deliver a dead ball into dangerous areas with excellent accuracy.



One thing I particularly like about him is that he plays with his head up, as they say, always looking around him for options. That is a big part of his ability to create, Bruno's vision is excellent and he has the range of passing and technique to pick the right pass and complete it.



His movement is good and he has good pace to get himself into dangerous areas of the pitch and his excellent first touch allows him to link up play well. Bruno is someone you need to get on the ball often, to allow him to use his skill, to create a bit of space or his intelligence to find it.



One thing I have noticed about Bruno is his tendency to play a little chip pass, which could play a team-mate into trouble if it is read by the opponent, as it is not an easy pass to deal with. His main weakness is ball winning, especially tackling, as he is not the bravest tackler, his tackles tend to come in the form of dangling a leg out, rather than a full physical blood and thunder body on the line tackle.



If being used in a pressing system, that is not an issue, but it does mean he is not suited to a deeper role at the base of midfield and that he needs someone alongside or behind him to do the breaking up play role to get the most out of him. Using Bruno further forward also allows him to break into the box, where he is a dangerous finisher.
