Origi is still young enough to have a good future to look forward to, but the Belgian has suffered badly in his short career through a combination of bad luck and injuries, that has kept him from getting opportunities he should have had. The potential is there to be much more than he has so far been able to show, the question is whether he will be able to achieve it, as it was not so long ago he was Belgium's first choice in the striker position but he has not been able to hold on to it.

Since then, his career has hit the buffers, lost his place, an unsuccessful loan move has not helped him and it looked like he would be on his way out of Liverpool last summer. When that did not happen Origi showed something he will need if he is to ever reach his potential, he showed desire and workrate, enough that he pushed his way back into the first team reckoning and ahead of Daniel Sturridge.

However, he still has a long way to go to maximise his potential. On the plus side, he has pace, power, aerial ability and skill, the problem is putting it together to present a threat to the opposition. Origi should rack up goals like there is no tomorrow, instead he is often trying to run with the ball down the wing and losing it.

Despite having brute strength, he often seems to allow himself to be unbalanced so that he is easy to bump off the ball. Origi also allows himself to be shepherded away from dangerous areas, both on and off the ball, so that his runs are often pointless and do little to get him into a place where he can get a goal.

He is now at an age where he needs to learn how to use his physicality and ability in the right areas, rather than just aimlessly running around trying to throw his weight about. That will come from good coaching and Origi's own intelligence. So far it does not seem to have happened, which is a worry, as he looks a shadow of the player he once was. Origi needs to concentrate on driving into the box, forget about working for the team when they are in possession, just concentrate on being in place to put the ball into the net.
