The Portugese is a versatile player who can play anywhere on the left side of the pitch, but is particularly strong at left-back, where he was arguably the best in Europe last season. Though he is very accomplished in midfield, it is clear his play best suits the left-back role.

Guerreiro has pace, with lovely quick feet and good skills, winger-like skills, the ability to beat players with the ball at his feet. He loves to get forward, and has good vision to pick out a ball when he gets in dangerous positions and the passing range to make those passes.

His touch is very good, in fact his technique in general is excellent, Guerreiro is almost too good on the ball to be playing out on the left. The 26 year old is so good that it feels like he should be in the centre of the pitch where he can be more fully involved in the game for the full 90 minutes.

Defensively he shows good strength, has a good leap and a good reading of the game. What I was particularly impressed with was his positioning. Guerreiro defends like an old school full-back, rather than a modern wing-back, and will put himself on the cover for the centre-backs, rather than looking to stray too far forward.

All in all an excellent player who could walk into pretty much any team in the world and it is surprising there was not more interest in him during the summer window.
