Jimenez is one of those strikers that is far from prolific but still a constant threat anyway. A grafter, who could easily be seen as just a target man, but he offers far more than that. He has good pace, extremely strong in the air, runs the channels well and is happy to play wide, can cross, has excellent technique and, all in all, should be scoring a lot more goals than he does.

Therein lies his problem, he creates space and chances for both himself and others brilliantly, but he fails to make the most of the chances that fall to him far too often for a striker playing at the top level. In a lot of respects, Jimenez is reminiscent of Emile Heskey, in that he has the talent to be so much better than he is, but he expends so much effort working for his team that it comes at the expense of his own performance.

Some players are far too selfish to make the most of their team-mates, Jimenez is far too unselfish to make the most of himself. He gets himself in good positions and will take a shot if the opportunity presents itself, but it feels like he lacks the confidence in himself to finish with composure, as he is always wondering if he should have looked for a pass instead. It often feels almost apologetic when he shoots, like he is too tense and worried that he might have chosen the wrong option.

At a scoring ratio of lower than 1 goal in every 3 games he plays, his goalscoring is a real weakness for a player of Jimenez's quality. Make no mistake about it, he really does have a lot of quality, his movement is exceptional and he has the physical attributes to torment centre backs along with the skill to receive the ball and keep it until support arrives. If he could just add goals to his game, then he would be amongst the best strikers in the Premier League right now.
