Senesi is one of those modern day centre-backs who are excellent on the ball, he is capable of playing long, raking passes to launch an attack from deep. The Argentine is also an aggressive tackler, looking to defend on the front foot, which makes him very well suited to playing as part of a team that dominates possession. He is also fairly strong and decent in the air, though can be bullied if he does not have the physical edge on his opponent.

Unfortunately, his defending, like so many of the modern day ball-playing central defenders, is lacking overall. Senesi is very uncomfortable when he is turned, probably because he is slow on the turn and lacks pace. He also is positionally poor, he can be pulled out of position far too easily for my liking, especially as he does not have the pace to recover his position when he gets in trouble.

He tries to avoid being taken into full-back areas, but that can cause issues when added to his aggressive tackling as he will look to take the ball, rather than safely usher a player out to the flanks. Senesi's lack of pace and turning speed looks like a lack of foot speed to me, with him unable to accelerate quickly and makes him awkward when defending one-on-ones. He is not a player you want facing up a quick, nippy forward inside his own penalty box.

The biggest issue that is faced with him is that Senesi is best in a team dominating possession, but those teams tend to use a higher line, which means his lack of pace can be exposed. It is why he is only the back up since signing for Spurs, but he could also have fitted in to a team that plays a deep line or in the centre of a back three where he could use his range of passing from deep, similar to the way Wolverhampton Wanderers used Coady when he was there. The way Spurs play, he just seems a poor signing completely unsuited to the team or the way they play.
